the massage therapist makes a belly massage to a pregnant young woman

I have undertaken and successfully completed a post-graduate course in Maternity Reflexology and so am fully qualified to treat pregnant women. Reflexology is a wonderful therapy to have during this very special time. (Reflexology is also helpful prior to conception to help balance the body and prepare the body for pregnancy).

At the first treatment, a detailed consultation takes place with further information recorded on all aspects of this and any other pregnancies. It is helpful to bring your pregancy notes to Reflexology treatments.

Reflexology is a safe and beneficial therapy for use at this time of physical and psychological adjustment.

Some of the discomforts Reflexology can help relieve when you are pregnant include:

  • morning sickness
  • heart burn
  • back and leg pain
  • sciatica
  • constipation and haemorrhoids
  • stress and anxiety
  • insomnia

and help the body to prepare for labour (including post due-date sessions).

Following the birth of your baby the benefits of Reflexology include:

  • balancing your hormones
  • energising your system
  • easing discomfort in the vaginal and rectal areas
  • relieving gorged breasts and encouraging milk supply

Baby too can benefit from Reflexology. A very gentle treatment is given and it can help following a traumatic birth e.g. forceps delivery or very long labour; to help calm colic and reflux; sleeping and feeding problems; teething; constipation among other conditions. Babies generally sleep well following a treatment.

I do combined new mum and baby treatments and can also show a few simple reflexology points to help your baby too. I can also combine pregnancy massage with reflexology.
